The Little Cat by the Trash Bin: A Fight for One More B
I wasn’t supposed to find him that night.
I was just passing through the park, walking past the trash bins the way I always do.
But then I saw something move—barely—beneath the dim yellow streetlight.
A small orange-and-white cat was lying on the cold metal bars of a trash bin frame, his body trembling uncontrollably. His legs kicked weakly, his mouth opened but no sound came out. He was having violent seizures, alone, right next to a pile of discarded waste.
That’s where someone had left him.
Or where he had dragged himself to… before his body gave out.
When I picked him up, he was ice-cold, limp, terrified.
But he didn’t fight me.
He just looked at me, as if he was asking—begging—for one last chance.
At the emergency animal hospital, the vet rushed him in. They told me his condition was critical.
Possible trauma.
Possible poisoning.
Possible neurological damage.
They couldn’t say yet. All they knew was that he needed immediate treatment, round-the-clock care, and multiple tests to even understand what had happened to him.
Right now, as I write this, he’s lying under a heat lamp, connected to IV fluids, trying to survive the next few hours.
He’s just a stray cat.
No name.
No owner.
No one waiting for him at home.
But tonight, he has us.
And he has a fighting chance—if we stand with him.
His medical bills are already overwhelming, and the treatment he needs to stabilize could take days, even weeks.
